About Me
You just had to take-a-peek didn’t ya? No one likes posting “About Me” pages, but everyone loves reading them, huh?
Okay then…
My name is Becky Rutledge. And, since you’re being nosey - I’m 39 years old, a single mom and I’ve been working from home and online for about 8 years now.
If you’re like most, that’s about all the info you need and/or care to know.
But… for the rest of you (you know who you are
) - here’s the quick Story of My Life:
Graduated from High School in Stillwater, MN in 1987.
Joined the Marine Corps and went to Boot Camp at Parris Island, SC. Then, went to San Antonio, TX. Then, ended up in Quantico, VA.
Met my first husband in Quantico. Got married and had my first son in 1989.
Moved to Sebring, FL and then later got divorced in… I think it was 1992.
Did a couple years of community college.
Became and worked as a Correctional Officer for the Florida Department of Corrections in 1994.
Met and married my now 2nd ex-husband in 1995. Had my second son in 1996.
Got my first home computer and access to the Internet in 1996. Started teaching myself and learning everything and anything I could about the Internet and making money online. I hated my job and couldn’t afford to go back to school - so I decided to teach myself how to design websites and stuff (which turned out to be harder than I thought and took way longer to make make money from than I ever imagined).
Made my first $20 working online running that old Cookie Cutter program (scam). I didn’t know it was a scam - I thought it was a legitimate way of making some money online. Boy, did I have a lot to learn! And.. I did.
Next, I earned a few bucks selling AmeriPlan Dental programs online. That sucked!
Anyways, I learned, tried and did just about everything. Scammers loved me! I bought into every last piece of scheming garbage out there. I always have to learn the hard way!
Eventually, after a whole lot of other stuff in between, I did start designing some websites and did earn a few bucks.
In-the-meantime, I joined every GPT program that came out. This is when the GPT industry was brand new and everyone was earning great money! I made a ton of cash off that Tomeo program. Remember that one? They were paying some crazy amount for referrals and so I started concentrating on gaining referrals and joined all those referral maker programs. It was all great - while it lasted.
After that, I went back to the web designing and graphics gigs. Most notably, I ended up getting several good paying jobs designing some sites for a few companies and charities. I wasn’t ever content with these projects, though.
I was, however, making enough money working from home and online to finally quit my Florida Department of Corrections job in 2001.
I started learning and doing affiliate marketing. I designed some sites and used Commission Junction to get my start. I loved being able to make money online without having to fool with physical products.
And, because I always had to have many things going at once, I ended up learning everything I could about selling on eBay. I became an eBay Power Seller and ran a reputable online store. But, wow - eBay is work, work, work and lots more work! I didn’t like having to deal with all the shipping, receiving and handling of physical products! My home became the warehouse/shipping and receiving center of the universe! Just ask my kids and my 2nd ex-husband how interesting that all was! So, after about 2 years, I sold my eBay business, separated from my now 2nd ex-husband and moved my youngest son and myself to Burnett County, WI. But, not before my oldest son graduated from high school and went off to join the Marine Corps.
Since all my family lives in Minnesota and Wisconsin, 18 years in Florida was long enough for this girl!
So, what am I doing now - besides running FreeGasMoneyOnline.com? I operate a few sites, do some freelance projects and spend a whole lot more time with my son.
There you have it - the real quick story of my life. If you’re still reading this, then you seriously need to get-a-life
! I’m positive your life is much more interesting!
